Best Acceptance Speech Ever

No subtitles necessary.

Rube Goldberg machine ... oh yeah...

OK Go is a pretty derivative band (in my humble opinion.) I thought that the treadmill machine song was unbearable but the video was fun. The Rube Goldberg machine song is much better and fits nicely with these amazing visuals. Because...you know...the novelty of things will wear off ... eventually. (Ah, paraphrasing is fun.)

PS. The latest album is better than the previous ones, but still... the videos are so much betterER.

Blood Red Shoes

Light.It.Up.  And no, they are not White Stripe wannabes, you punk. But it does smell a little like teen spirit. Still awesome.

We are monkeys with money and guns.

Tom Waits once said: We are monkeys with money and guns

He also said:
We are buried beneath the weight of information, which is being confused with knowledge; quantity is being confused with abundance and wealth with happiness. Leona Helmsley’s dog made 12 million last year… and Dean McLaine, a farmer in Ohio made $30,000. It’s just a gigantic version of the madness that grows in every one of our brains.

His favorite movie memories:
Brando in The Godfather dying in the tomatoes with scary orange teeth. The speech by Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner as he’s dying. (Strangely in line with mine.)

His words to live by:
Jim Jarmusch once told me “Fast, Cheap, and Good… pick two. If it’s fast and cheap it wont be good. If it’s cheap and good it won’t be fast. If it’s fast and good it wont be cheap.” Fast, cheap and good… pick (2) words to live by.

Tom Waits rules.
